Dangerous heat and humidity through July 4

Today is a First Alert Weather Day. A heat warning is in effect for the Mid State and Southern Kentucky until 7:00 p.m. Very hot and humid weather will continue this afternoon and into the evening. The heat index will peak between 105° and 110° this afternoon.

Showers and thunderstorms will develop over southern Kentucky and northern Middle Tennessee in the afternoon. Any of these storms could produce sudden, strong wind gusts. Isolated, minor showers are possible elsewhere in our area.

Tonight it will remain very warm with temperatures remaining around 27 degrees for many hours.


A First Alert Weather Day is in effect for July 4th. Dangerous heat and humidity will develop by late morning. Once again, the heat index will peak in the 105-110 degree range.

The chances of a few spotty thunderstorms are higher tomorrow than today. Be prepared to temporarily bring the fun indoors if a storm develops or moves into your area. Remember, when the thunder roars, go indoors! Like today, a few storms could pack damaging winds.


Showers and thunderstorms are likely Friday morning. This rain will gradually move south and out of the area Friday afternoon, improving conditions then and into the evening. Low, 78. High, 92.

Dry weather is expected this weekend, making it perfect for a visit to the pool or lake.


There will likely be local showers and thunderstorms on Monday and Tuesday, with lows around 21 degrees Celsius and highs around 32 degrees Celsius.
