Dangerous heat continues through July 4

The infamous heat dome that has been baking us remains over our area, but is starting to break down. Still, above average temperatures for the 4th of July holiday continue, with highs expected in the mid 90s. It will remain very humid, so it will feel like it is somewhere between 105-110 for most areas during the heat of the day. That is why heat warnings are in effect for Thursday. It is important that you practice heat safety for the holidays , and when the thunder roars…go inside :

That’s important to remember, because scattered showers and storms are possible in the afternoon. But if rain falls at the right time in your area, it will help to limit the temperature rise. The chance of showers becomes very low by Thursday evening. So the overall forecast looks good for fireworks in our area.

A frontal boundary will move into our region on Friday. It will increase our chances of rain…which should help keep temperatures in check. Most forecast models are indicating that the front will actually pass through our area. So it should be a little less humid this weekend…and a little cooler with low 90s (seasonal) for highs. There will also be a few scattered showers possible, but the weekend will be far from a wash out.

Next week, a trough of low pressure will be over our region, keeping temperatures at or below average for most of the week, and daily rain is expected.
