The Federal Emergency Management Agency opened a Disaster Recovery Center in Spencer on July 2, giving city residents and others hard hit by the June 22 flooding another way to apply for disaster recovery assistance.

The center is a joint effort between FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration, which helps with long-term disaster relief by providing low-interest loans and other services. FEMA spokeswoman Tiana Suber said the DRC will remain open “until needs are met.”
