The intersection of Interstate 696 Service Drive and 11 Mile Road and Van Dyke Avenue once again tops the list of the 20 most dangerous roads in Michigan, according to a survey by attorneys specializing in car accident law.

The intersection is on the border of Warren and Center Line in Macomb County and was ranked number one on Michigan Auto Law’s 2022 list of dangerous intersections.

The Farmington Hills law firm announced this year’s list on Tuesday.

“Michigan Auto Law’s goal is to provide drivers with the information they need to make safe decisions for themselves and their families, whether that means taking an alternate route or exercising extra caution when passing through one of the intersections on Michigan’s list of most dangerous intersections,” the firm said in a statement.

It said the release coincides with a new public safety campaign to raise awareness about some of the state’s most dangerous intersections. As part of the effort, the law firm has placed billboards around several intersections that appear on the list each year.

To compile the annual list, the firm’s attorneys analyze Michigan State Police data on car accidents at intersections throughout the state from the previous year. Intersections are defined for the list as roads with a traffic light, four-way stop or roundabout. The data includes accidents and injuries that occurred within 200 feet of an intersection.
