The Minister of Youth, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, has ordered that 10 million naira be paid twice to one person as money to invite 50 youths to Tinubu’s first birthday, Osun Defender has gathered..

According to sources within the ministry, the minister made the decision without involving others.

The Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) reported that on May 25, 2023, the ministry made two payments to a certain Dahiru Jibril for the same purpose.

According to FIJ, the description of each payment reads: “Payment for the invitation of 50 youths from 36 states of the federation to participate in the first anniversary celebration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa.”

A source within the ministry who spoke to Osun Defender on condition of anonymity because she was not authorised to speak on the matter, said the Minister of State for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, refused to participate in the whole process.

The source noted that Ibrahim extended an invitation to Olawande as a special guest of honour for the programme but he declined as he did not want to be involved in the matter.

She said: “The issue is already causing problems in the ministry. The minister took the decision to invite the 50 people without taking anyone with him.

“The worst part is that she did not inform the Minister of State for Youth Development about the matter because she felt she was in charge. She only sent an invitation letter to Olawande asking him to be a special guest at the programme but the letter was rejected by the Minister of State who refused to attend the event.”

At the time of publishing this story, the ministry had not yet commented on the controversy surrounding the deposit of government money into the account of the aforementioned Dahiru Jibril.
