ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, ICAR – Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, North Goa, organised a week long vocational training on ‘Scientific Management of Goats’.

Professional training in scientific management of goats

Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, Goa, inaugurated a programme which highlighted the importance of goat farming in rural communities. He stressed the need for fodder crops, indigenous breeds of goats, quality feed, cheap housing and adequate health care to become self-sufficient in goat meat production and thus become “Swayampurn Goa”. He ensured availability of planting material and gave preference to goat breeds for coastal climates.

Twenty-nine youth from different talukas of North and South Goa participated in the training.
