Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar on Wednesday congratulated batting legend Sunil Gavaskar on his 75th birthday and penned an emotional letter.

The master blaster hailed Gavaskar as one of his special heroes and prayed for him to live a long and healthy life. Meanwhile, he shared a picture of them together from their early years.

“The more time batters spend at the crease, the more they can flow freely. You are no different. You are getting younger and more energetic by the day!” Tendulkar said in a post on X.

The fact that you are so involved and enthusiastic about cricket today reflects how much you love the game, Tendulkar said, adding: “If an opener lays a good foundation, it becomes easy for the rest of the batting order. We were all inspired by you, and in turn could inspire the next generation.”

“Indian cricket owes a great debt to your service, may you continue to be associated with our beautiful game. Happy Birthday and see you soon!”, Tendulkar added.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah also expressed his appreciation for Gavaskar in a message on X.

“Congratulations Sunil Gavaskar! Your batting technique was so perfect that you could play aggressively and defensively with equal ease. Best wishes for everything and a great year ahead!” wrote Jay Shah.
